You will perhaps recall that I recently posted a story of a friend’s family that was witness to a Davis Lake (Oregon) duckling becoming a tasty morsel for a largemouth bass. Inspired by the story, I set to work to create a suitable pattern for bass. Today, I ventured forth to Government Cove, East of Cascade Locks, Oregon with my first effort at enticing a bass to a duckling. I had high expectation because upon arrival a nearby fisherman hauled a nice four to five pound bass from the murky waters.
I worked hard at presenting my creation and realized early on that I had not calculated for the weight of my creation. I soon realized that my six weight was not stout enough for the weight of the duckling. Further, I didn’t get a single hit. I didn’t catch a bass on anything else, so in my opinion, the verdict is still out. Any suggestions?
