Sage Z-Axis Rods with Ross Momentum and Loop Reels strung with Scandie heads ready to go. Cruising the washboard between Mack’s Canyon to Maupin.
So, this recent trip to the Deschutes River to spey fly fish created several followup desires: continue spey casting to help engrain the mechanics. Not next year but real soon. Also, to expand the tying repertoire, learn to tie tube flies and balance the shooting heads to the rods we will be using.
The spey casting and line-rod matching can take place away from the house. However, the tying of flies has suddenly taken over the dining room table. Tubes, feathers, Artic Fox, ribbing and such have expanded on a daily basis.
I had just cleaned up the dining room table in an effort to make amends for my long term occupation of the table and adjacent areas. Then within a day of returning from the Deschutes R. the dining room table was once again occupied, not with trout fly materials, but with a whole new niche of tying materials.
