Hi,
I am staying in Stuttgart and have been trying to find out how I can get a vistors licence here. We contact the town hall, but they don’t seem that helpful, advising that can ony fish when accompanied by a guide. Well guides are very helpful on a new water, but I have fished for over 40 years now so think that I can manage on my own once I know the water.
I have read that I can get a Besucher-Fishereischein which is valid for three months. I also understand that with this I can fish anywhere in Germany with a permit purchased for the particular water.
Can you advise or put me in touch with someone who can help me to obtain a licence here in Stuttgart?
Many thanks,
John Stephens

Looking:
“Temporary “Auslander” licenses can be purchased at almost any City Hall or “Rathaus” of most medium size cities. The actual office is called the “Landrats” or “Ordnungsamt”. The easiest way to make it all work is to locate where you want to fish, talk to the water rights holder, and have him or her coordinate directly with the local authorities. Local fishing stores owners can also be a big, big help. They are usually listed under Angle –sport, fischerei, or something real similar.”

Fishing Permits
To get a fishing permit (needed in most areas) anglers must present their fishing licence to the local fishing shop or club. Fishing permits can be bought for daily fishing tours as well as weekly and monthly periods. The permits are specific to the respective waters, therefore, it is wise to choose the area to fish in before finding a fishing shop selling a permit.

Not being much help! This license-course deal compared to tourist license was not clearly separated on anything I researched. It is apparent that private waters (cost?) and a guide (cost) would preclude a license/course testing etc. Sorry I could not be of immediate help. Maybe those City Hall or Rathaus locations can answer….best wishes!

Glad you liked the pics, that brown trout was sure the prettiest I have ever caught.
Currently working on my site to fill it with the fishing reports I made during the
years.
