
DNA data confirms Argentina’s Rainbow trout were from the McCloud R. of California and Southern Oregon. Also, France, Germany and Denmark introduced Rainbow stock into the rivers of Argentina. This has stocking history and some techno data that probably only a fisheries biologist would grasp, but still intersting on the reaches and intertwining of fish DNA.
From 1904 to 1910, several consignments of rainbow trout embryos arrived at Argentina, mainly from the United States, with only occasional importations from European countries, such as France and Germany…..By that time, Bariloche became the main center of salmonid propagation in Argentinean waters, contributing to the distribution of these new stocks throughout the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Danish stocks of rainbow trout have a complex ancestry; multiple lineages from California, Michigan, Canada, New Zealand, and France appear to have contributed to their foundation…
