Buzzer Emerger
Buzzer Emerger

book2I posted this pattern last May with nary a comment or explanation from me. I first observed the pattern in Schollmeyer & Leeson’s ‘Tying Emergers’ (excellent book). I tied an experimental version of a pattern and posted it. At the time, I was not happy with the tail (to many hackle fibers). The body was pheasant tail fibers (kind of lost here) and the ribbing was fine copper wire and krytal flash wound together and wrapped over the body. The hackle fibers of the tail were pulled forward over the body and thorax (ostrich herl). I like the overall idea of this fly. I never tied it again and have not fished it. However, it looks to have potential as a chironomid or mayfly emerger.

Give a try with you own touches and check out the book.
