The draw is as self evident as can be. Women could only stand by so long, watching, observing the life along the stream before picking up the rod. Women were sent to fetch the water. How fortunate. They were quick to see what was taking place while the man walked the plow or loaded the cart. I think some intuitive code awaits many more women to pick up the rod….and to sit at the vise to create.

As always Swittersb you capture the grace and elegance of the female form, the one lady could have easily had a rod in her hand whilst chatting to her friend. Here at ladies fishing we are trying our best to get more ladies into the wonderful world of fly fishing, holding regular begineers to advanced events at cost for salmon, trout, pike, mullet etc including fly dressing and entomology. We have just launched our fund raising for the UK Casting for Recovery and hope to raise £6k the amount it costs to hold a retreat
Don’t forget all 3 records for salmon caught are held by women:
Largest uk salmon – Miss Balantyne
Largest springer – Miss Daveys
Largest uk fly caught salmon – Mrs Morrisson (Deveron)
If any ladies are interested in our events in the UK please visit the ladies fishing website.
Keep up the good work

I’ve always said the fish don’t care who is at the end of the rod. I’ve had to quit more than one group of fly-fishing types because they didn’t feel woman were equal to them. I saw men pull out huge boxes of flies they had tied, but mine were all lost in the act of fishing. In other words they talked the talk, but I walked in the river.
I think fishing is well suited for me – as always you have to get closer to the self and lose the ego by paying attention to the surface of the flow.
Why are we still talking about women getting out of the kitchen?
