most often it is the fouling of the trailing hook or tail/body materials wrapping around the the front hooks bend/point. Spey tiers tie mega patterns that involve a Waddington Shank on the front end and a trailing stinger hook. The Waddington set up does not necessitate the cutting anything. I liked the Sculpin pattern because of the materials and color schemes…more than the apparatus it is attached to. I think all those materials can be used by someone that develops the most efficient, least cumbersome hook setup. If you do come across a better setup please share. Thanks for the visit Godfrey. I’m also wondering why you cut the front hook off. I’ve always been of the school of thought that the more barbs the better. Hook up any way you can.
