Chenille bodies are not seen as much anymore for steelhead/salmon patterns. Bodies are slimmer. But, there are some nice chenille’s out there that have more benefit than just for Woolly Buggers. Here, I was playing around to see what the color combos would look like. Most appealing is the chenille’s highlights and that brilliant blue in the wound guinea hackle.

I have tied this pattern with copper chenile. It is always fun to see what a guy can come up with. The copper dogs are productive on the Bighorn River, so I keep about a dozen along. Have you tied any lime green chenile? Saw a dude with a box full of greens, and he was dragging in some gorgeous German Browns! Going to head to some great water over on the Madison, might drag the little guy out.
Yes SwittersB, you are an amazing tier, I agree.

Hey man,
I have been following your blog for quite some time now, and I wanted to let you know that I think you are one of the most creative tiers I know. Thanks for letting me see all of your creations. I keep telling my buddies…did you see what SwittersB put on his blog…..I want to tie that. You give guys with no imagination like me something to look forward to in the morning.
I want to give you a challenge, if you are willing to accept it. I want you to tie your favorite, most gnarly streamer that is guaranteed to catch me a 25″ brown this fall. Are you up to it? I would love to see what your favorite is.
Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks.

Hello Cortney,
I posted one last year that I cannot find…I will keep looking. Last night I was checking a steelhead site and Mike Kinney was tying a Skagit Minnow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3svZG6qExI It is a bit combersome with two portions. He ties it as most would..not perfect but by the time he is done…it begs a savage hit. He touts it for Browns, Steelhead and Dollies. Take a look at it…if the link does not work query Skagit Minnow. I will also try to find a pattern that proved very successful on East Lake…not a river but it too worked….when i find link I will pass on. In the meantime….I will give this some thought!
Thanks for the kind comments.
