EVERY DAY IN MAY WRITING CHALLENGE: WORKING

Nothing too remarkable about my work. I have been working in one way or another for 48 years. I had one job for 32 years before retiring. Passion is a word that comes to mind now. My job doesn’t love me now. There is no passion. But, like most people I do it to make ends meet and take care of the family. Soon I will retire again and perhaps for my later years find something to work at or give to that again provides that purposeful fix…the passion of it all. Don’t get me wrong. Given the times, I consider myself very fortunate. Blessed even.

I am blessed now, because I work with very nice people. I am also not working in a job that tears at my old, broken body. It does tear at my old, broken brain….but ‘whatever’. Like I say, it could be way worse. My dad worked until he was 78. That’s when he died. For many years he worked two jobs. Like I said, I know I am lucky. His work ethic did not, does not tolerate whining. That’s Ok with me.
