Well actually, the high winds out of the Columbia River Gorge probably claimed many trees, fences and assorted vulnerable items. Our Mountain Ash tree has endured 16 years of harsh East winds and seemed to stand strong. But, low and behold after a night of intense winds buffeting the property, I awoke the other morning to a tree down.

Odd how a fallen tree, one you planted yourself, leaves a hollow feeling. A minor occurrence in the scheme of weather disasters for sure. But, nonetheless, it left a hole in more than just the ground. Odd how the towering Cottonwoods nearby never seem to take a tumble. Now if there were trees I wanted to take a fall they are the ones…as long as it is away from the house.
