I was standing outside tonight, under cover, BBQing, when I heard the first telltale splats on the canopy roof. The glass topped table on the uncovered deck became a stage for the large raindrops to land and dance. As the rain commenced to come down harder, I grabbed my cell phone and walked to the edge of the table and held the lens even with table’s surface. The rain increased and I snapped these images as the rain came down ever harder until the table top boiled with splatting drops. This is the result. Nothing breath taking…just different.

“Downtown Portland recorded 6.21 inches of rainfall from Sept. 1 through 5 p.m. Sunday, the most in any September since recordkeeping began in 1872. Astoria recorded 10.1 inches during the same period, the most since records were started in 1890…” (X)

No not as much as some torrential downpours I know. But, Portland is noted for its rainy rep. Just not this rainy in September. This was more of a November rainfall.
