Mojave Desert: From a distance, the ragged scars of toppled cactus look harsh, final. Like open wounds, the still standing Cholla cactus look to be on borrowed time. Up close, the open sores are beautiful, labyrinths of woven fibers. And, a perfect habitat for the smaller creatures, at least temporarily. Macro habitat as it were.
