“Men marry women with the hope they will never change. Women marry men with the hope they will change. Invariably they are both disappointed.” Albert Einstein
“Men are from Earth, women are from Earth. Deal with it.” George Carlin
“Ladies, let me give you some advice. You can throw all your stupid fucking chick-lit, self-help, why-doesn’t-he-love-me books out, because this is all you need to know: Men will treat you the way you let them. There is no such thing as “deserving” respect; you get what you demand from people.. if you demand respect, he will either respect you or he won’t associate with you. It really is that simple.” Tucker Max

I am currently working on some gender sensitive spectacles which allow us to see the world the way the opposite sex does. The “Man’s View” ones are working great, they operate in black and white and indicate all objects as either “edible, drinkable, drivable or sexual”. However “Girl’s View” version, operating in full colour, including automatic integration with the phases of the moon, what is on at the movies, the covers of seven different magazines and adjusted to take account of birth’s, deaths and marriages are currently so complicated that they are too heavy to be supported by one’s ears. . 🙂

I can see the connection on a few different levels, my father was a simple man, violent, cruel, a pure narcissist, however he demanded I be a pro baseball player and to survive I had to improvise like your father.
After suffering for five decades my meditation practice healed then set me free to make a life, to pay it forward. I do not have fancy letters like Ph.D. or any other accolade but my model and healing plan is no frills, pragmatic and all is needed is the energy and passion to make it habit.
When I read your post on your father, I connected with a persons ingenuity using only discipline, courage and action can accomplish, live a happy life is inexorable.
.
Intuitively you know what I say is true and reverbs , take action on it and the last remnants will integrate, lose power and fade..
I enjoy your writings and your spirit also.
Nice to cross paths. More benefits from giving, being open, risking, writing posts that may illicit criticism, takes
Well I always heard it takes leather balls to play rugby and live with the mind empty, open and free.

I believe, my opinion, that your father was a special, an amazing man.
A man who faced with the same challenges only single digit people would have survived, not thrived like he did.
It resonates with me, I see, and sometimes it is intuition, I have no words to explain that.

Visiting my chiropractor today, i brought up an idea about a post comparing the male ego and sex,, he immediately asked how would that go.
Never at a loss for words, I wondered out loud why we men, think the shinier the model, the more beautiful the package, the more happiness, the more respect from other men,the status of having other men envious for starters drives, our choices, desires,,passion, fetishes?
He said oh yea, we are mixed up.
No wonder we meander most of our lives.

great idea….when I was researching man and woman quotes there were many about the fragile male psyche etc. I hesitated to even post this at first given how sensitive some folks are…so I hedged a bit with the stereotype/truism? part…:-) Thanks for visiting Marty

May I comment on the post about your father?
So many miraculous stories of human resilience and survival goes unnoticed, accomplished from the oddest of spaces. Facing insurmountable odds, does not stop some from giving their best in the face of hardship,,poverty, petulance. Incredible what a will can endure,,overcome,,enjoy.
.
The human spirit does not need intelligence, sophistication,,schooling, social or financial advantage to find happiness, find the silver lining in the midst of,his challenges.
Your father to have that kind of insight, spirituality,,well, how else did he get his wisdom,,not cognitively,,through books or education, had to develop, his intuition to know the mind was the key.
Even if he was wrong, deciding on a path, then taking action is all we can do, it at can be a full life, a happy life in a harsh climate.
