“This present project – planning, modeling, designing and constructing the facility – started 15 years ago. The fact that we are finished and are working hard on actually operating the system is hard for me to assimilate. But as I write this, our partners from the Oregon Department Fish and Wildlife and the Confederated Tribes Fisheries Group are planning to release spring Chinook fry upstream the first week of March. This will be the third consecutive year of Chinook releases. In May, for the fourth year, several hundred thousand steelhead fry will be liberated into their historic habitat in stream reaches above the dam.”

Deschutes (River) Passage Update (Smolts Moving)

this should make the Dechutes one of the most awesome fisheries in the world . I am concerned however how this could affect the metolious but I guess we will see what happens . having sockeye back in Oregon would be sweet as well . im hoping that they are considering how these fish will interact with one another in the spawning areas

If you go into the site there are some posts early on about the Metolious, Crooked, and nearby smaller streams involved in all this. It will be interesting to see what impact this all has…and what oversight there will be in Central Oregon by OSP, given how scarce they are now….
