Oh, finally found it: Dubbing is used as a body material for many nymph patterns and is widely used in the Western US for dry fly bodies where more buoyancy is required than a standard thread body can provide.


I have posted about dubbing before. This posting is a simple reminder that beyond buoyancy, dubbing is animation, suggestive of life, of wings, of legs, of gills, of antenna, of movement. Experiment with it’s untidy side too (especially for caddis pupa’s emerging).
