While we have been inundated with political arrogance, waste, toxic spills and financial collapse an amazing story has continued in Chile. 2000+ feet down, where the miners are nearing rescue. What a story of a much maligned industry, the government, the navy and rescuers coming together to save these miners. Did the stars align? Sounds like the girlfriend just cared a hell of a lot. She almost lost him. Cannot judge by what we hear, I give her credit for exposing herself like that. Wish I had a girlfriend that would love me that much…Just kidding Helen!

The successful rescue of the Chilean miners is a heroic achievement of human ingenuity, perseverance and solidarity. Not to be too much of a downer though, but I’m wondering why wasn’t the same impressive ingenuity was used to protect the miners safety in the first place?

I do believe the last guy out will be the one with his wife and girlfriend waiting on top. Hmmm? Could be more hazardous than below or some new beginnings.
