A while back, I pointed to Don Bastian’s site, Don Bastian Wet Flies. I made an observation re his personal life that probably was not my place to make and suggested he was taking a break of sorts. I was wrong and apologize for that inappropriate comment. In fact, he is at full capacity and I am highlighting what most trout fishers would twitch over…a simply, perfect Adams Wet Fly. Utilitarian and elegant at the same time. Check out Don’s site for the pattern, below, and for everything about the classic, winged wet fly.

man there are some beautiful wet flies on this site…nice work

Hey Gary,
Thought you’d might like to know that saddle hackles are flying out of shops across the US due to this current fashion trend:

My local shop got cleaned out this week and I was told that one of the biggies is going to start re-packaging to take advantage of this…

Yes, and also, most boutiques in the trendy parts of Portland have lots of earrings and hairpieces with fine quality, long, hackle, natural and dyed.

Thanks for the posting here on the Adams wet fly and for your compliments of my work. (Though how can this really be considered ‘work?’) I was not upset about your initial comment, so no apology necessary. It’s just that part of how things had been going for me were actually preventing or restricting my activity on my site at a level that I had desired. Since mid-December I have been more active, and in fact I would be even more active on my site, but I am currently undergoing “personal realignment.”
This plus the fact that my upcoming schedule is quite hectic, and that for the last two weeks I have been completing the final phase of assembly of a (sold) set of the Wet Fly Color Plates from Ray Bergman’s books, ten frames, 483 flies in all – and I am taking this set on the road to several venues (check my schedule on my site http://donbastianwetflies.wordpress.com/2011/01/26/my-schedule-for-february-march-april/) over the next six weeks, so I’m working a lot and that is the reason that I might not be tending my site regularly. However, I will do my best as time permits.
Thanks for your comments!
