I recently posted a pattern by Davie McPhail with which he used ‘sheer’ ribbon for the body. At the time, I thought I understood how he used the ribbon. But, upon reviewing Aileen Nishimura Ellis’ how to tie a Caddis Pupa using the sheer ribbon…I was obviously (previously) confused. Take a look at the how to segment here. Aileen’s sequence is more understandable. There are several unique tips here. Not so much a beginner’s pattern for sure, but a few techniques here worth considering. Check out Flybrary also.
