SwittersB & Fly Fishing. Well, admittedly I have not been wetting a line of late. Soon, but in the meantime I am catching and releasing, so to speak, other beautiful creatures. This morning, my wife (hmm? shrieked? or loudly exclaimed) let me know there was something unusual in our backyard. I moved toward the window to see a coyote hopping about the backyard as if playing or stalking, almost like a cat does.
I grabbed the camera. Slid out the back door, careful to not let a our dogs or cats out to complicate the moment. I saw the coyote nearby. Focused upon me but not skittish. The coyote moved, stopped, looked, moved toward the escape route. I snapped away and caught something after all.
We have had coyotes for the 16+ years we have lived here. We live on the edge of development and undeveloped farm land and wetlands. I have never been able to capture one before. Today was a good day. Heck, this week was a good week: a bat and a coyote! In Portlandia!
