Buried away in a hall closet at a deceased family member’s home. The memories of decades ago of embroidery, pillow cases, dish towels. Did you ever see these at your Grandmother’s or Aunt’s or your own home?

My Aunt and Mother made these, often, in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Some by hand and later with early sewing machines that allowed such things. Mostly they did it all by hand, very slowly and exacting.

In past our grandparents still made it, more now…
I also have of my big maternal mother a set of tablecloth and towel(briefcase) embroidered(exaggerated) in the hand as well as a pair of old linen sheet with her initials embroidered(exaggerated) above

Beautiful keepsakes I am sure. I attach emotions to such things, too much I suppose, by imagining my Mom or Aunt as very young women creating the designs. Not having very much in life but high hopes and exuberance for life.
