expressed on the wall of my daughter’s bedroom, behind the door. She moved out into young adulthood five years ago, yet the words still reflect her optimism and zest for life’s challenges and sense of realities. Today, my daughter learned one of her dear friends took his life….’broken dreams’. I know she will once again strive to be happy. But not tonight.
A teen’s optimism…an adult’s reality

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear this! Bless her heart! I pray she will as you say regain her optimism. ❤

I am so sorry! Your daughter has the right outlook on life. May I suggest cutting out that piece of Sheetrock and framing it. Replacing it in the home will I only be a matter of $50.
While not philosophical, I did a painting on my wall one night without parents’ consent. It was of Donald Duck. My mom let me keep it for a week and then painted over it. Something we have all regretted.
Please keep it! Cut out the section and preserve it!
Hope you have some peace and happiness in the holidays!

I will consider how to preserve it. She is coming down from Seattle for Thanksgiving. We will make a plan! Thanks

Sorry to hear about your daughters friend. So sad.
It looks like your daughter is an excellent writer. And how true those words are! You should definitely keep it there as a reminder!

All the more bittersweet in that we are selling the house and will paint over the message. We could leave it and let the knew owners paint over it 🙂 We, as a family, have had a good half dozen tragedies this past five years and everyone of these passages is a flare up of unresolved grief and a sense of what’s going to happen next. We are all off balance and it’s hard to help the other when your own head is reeling. Group grief is an interesting concept. Any way, thanks for reading. Take care Amanda!

half a dozen tragedies in the past five years. Wow. I guess a fresh start is what you all need. Perhaps this might help you to heal. Wishing you all the best with your house move, and I hope things get better soon. Take care.
