Some things are so iconically sacred in nature that their demise should/must generate a response to abuses. So, when I came upon a piece about the decline in the giraffe population I was interested to followup. Imagine my disgust when I discovered companies actually provide a safari experience to hunt/kill giraffes. I am not anti-hunting, but this is beyond the pale. Shame meter pegged! The giraffe populations are allegedly in serious decline….could these morons be part of the problem…of course they are! All rationalizations aside, this is obscene.

What kinda weak ass, lousy shot does one have to be to take up giraffe hunting ?
I mean, what, are they so near sighted and cowardly they need a slow moving, huge, harmless target like that?

Disgusting. I imagine I giraffe can run at a good clip but regardless it is beyond understanding. I recall a story re T. Roosevelt being escorted, rifle in hand, to a young bear tethered to a tree so he could shoot it for publicity purposes. Not sure it that is a true account and responsible for the ‘Teddy Bear’ but have always remembered that as an indication of some promoter’s mindset.

I’m not against hunting but this saddens me, so typical of rich fat people (see pictures) to do this kind of thing. Why can’t they go on IS hunting trip instead?
