This is the very edge of the High Desert in SE Oregon near Ft. Rock. As it gets past the Steens it assumes the ‘desert look’ The High Desert description has always confused me given the fringe of Junipers and Ponderosas just nearby. No sand and sagebrush like say the Mojave. Thanks for visiting! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Desert_(Oregon)
Hi! Yes the whole SE portion of Oregon into Nevada is considered high desert…we just stay hovering in the 40’s. Not sure we will get any snow this year, but still early..once past mid Feb. it’s pretty unlikely. Stay warm!!!! Hugs
I didn’t know there was desert up there I thought it was all trees lol I guess I need to go visit there.
