While fishing along an Oregon coastal river for Steelhead, I came upon a tree about a foot in diameter that appeared to have been snapped off about four feet above the earth. Surrounding or encasing the remaining trunk were these fungi that appeared extra interesting to the macro lens.

Amazing colors and textures Gary!

This is totally cool. Btw, my son is totally loving fishing. He is starting to talk the lingo…… It is cool to watch…..and listen to.

How cool is that!?! It is a wonderful passion, especially if they ultimately view the fish as less meat/target and with reverence too. Now you have to watch that passion to acquire every lure/scent/bauble that goes with fishing!!! 🙂

He has yet to catch his first fish. And he is really wanting to. I spoke to him last night and he and a friend went fishing for 3 1/2 hours yesterday. Our weather is still a bit suspect – cold, but when the sun comes out, it warms up, but then the wind kicks up…he was talking to me in fisher guy lingo about how he felt he had a bite then he did something but not fast enough…….I told him I need to get him a cool vest and hat – so he can pin his lures – and maybe he needs some of those really cool boots y’all where when standing in the water…. I know – typical mom – thinking fashion before sport…..anyways, I am enjoying sharing this experience with him and listening to him talk about it. It is very cool:)

Yes they were and the next morning after a downpour they were black. As the day warmed and dried their colors were returning.
