A lovely blue wildflower in Joshua Tree National Park near Lizard Rock. I cannot identify the variety. It does not appear, to this novice, to be a blue bell, blue dick, lupine, chia or Fremont phacelia….the blues of my desert plant guide (for novices). Perhaps someone will know exactly what it is.
Update 4/21/2015: while checking out the Joshua Tree NP Wildflower status report, I came upon an image for Larkspur that seems to closely resemble my image. Perhaps one in the same?
