Rivers and streams sometimes, if flows allow, have little back channels of flowing water. Often these seem to be miniature variations of the main stem…little vignettes of currents, rocks & vegetation. We are often in a hurry to get to the bigger water to fish, swim, explore and step right on by these small worlds.

off to the side…

I have skipped over many little streams in my life, and, I have stopped and immersed myself in those “little vignettes of currents” on many an occasion.
My Father taught me that – to stop and look at a rose, a grain of sand, the sky.
And my Mother used to write what she called little “vignettes.” After she died I pulled her books apart trying to find them and could not and she must have intended them completely private but – missing her and Papa as I and my siblings do I would have loved to have found them.
Anyway – the photo and your description are so lovely and your use of “vignettes” pulled me up short remembering them both. Thank you.

Thank you for the beautiful childhood recollections. Very poignant. I too regret not having more conversations and finding photographic treasures in later years. Faint memories now. Appreciate the visit.

It might have been just another photograph if it did not have that beautiful description to go with it 🙂
It is these small worlds that make the big ones come to life, but very few take notice.
