Yesterday, while in Seattle, we did a few of the touristy must do’s: Space Center, Pike Place Market, seafood down on the wharf and the Big Wheel ride. A ferris wheel is about the extent of my ‘thrill ride’ capabilities…a step above a Merry-Go-Round…my inner ear barely tolerates turning around too fast let alone more exhilarating gyrations. So the Big Wheel was a safe, interesting ride. Not given to fear of heights (because we were safely ensconced in a 6 passenger capsule) the ride was enjoyable. The smoke filled skies, from numerous wildfires to the East, obscured distant views. But, it was still an enjoyable event.

Beautiful photos. As a dizzy lady since age 3 with motion sickness, dizziness, vertigo, I have sympathy for you. I would not have been able to do even the Ferris Wheel. I am glad you had an enjoyable time. Happy Day.

It’s always fun to be a tourist at home. I love Pike’s Place, and the Space Needle. It’s been about 10 yrs since my last visit. I’m not fond of traditional Ferris Wheels, but I do love Roller Coasters, and Merry-go-Rounds. 🙂 The one you rode is more like the “The London Eye”? That one I rode without any fear or butterflies in my tummy.

Yes a pretty tame ride. I don’t mind heights, as I said, but start spinning me around and look out…make way!

Does this bring memories, I can actually see the apartment building I lived in. And wasn´t it the fisherman market? Are they still throwing the fished from one guy ten feet to the other guy, that was a show. Fisherman-showman should have been named.

Ha…yes indeed..they still sling the coho and yell out orders in unison. The wheel is just North of the ferry terminal with Ivars in between.

I remember that the first day when I went there, I thought I was in a circus instead of in a fishmarket. Later on, some days I would just pass by just to watch the show, and the guys never dropped a fish.

The smoke has been pretty bad these past couple days. Glad you enjoyed Seattle though! Make sure if you have time to spend a day in Tacoma as well 🙂
