I so seldom photograph wildlife, so my settings are rarely in a mode similar to when I am in a gym, low light, trying to capture a grandchild’s, in basketball or volleyball, movements. So, I really wasn’t prepared or even stationary…out for a walk. Heard the approaching honking, turned and took a chance.
Almost got it right…

close enough for a town this size
probably 80% of my shots are wildlife as I wander about
since dawn and dusk are prime times for the more unusual critters, I shoot wide open in aperture priority and take my chances
during the day I stop down or shoot shutter priority with as fast a shutter speed I think I can get away with
springtime geese are surprisingly dynamic as they gather their families about them
my personal obsession is the great blue heron
getting a good action shot of either can be problematic but well worth the effort
