Marc Williamson & Bubba Trout
Marc Williamson & Bubba Trout

I have been acquainted with Marc Williamson for about tens years, I would guess. I met Marc through fly tying circles, while escorting my then young son, Tony, as he tied at expos in his pre-teen years. Marc was also tying and I would visit with him as he tied clean, functional and always unique trout patterns.

It has always struck me that Marc is invited to many of the shows. I believe that has been as much for his demeanor as his skills. It is evident that Marc is a kind man. I have come, over time, to know that Marc is involved in a faith based endeavor each year, at which fly fishers meet at a retreat to fly fish, learn about fly fishing and to openly discuss their faith and life’s issues. This is part of Marc’s personality…simply put he walks the talk…yet the talk is purposely restrained. He is a decent man. His strength of character and composure is evident. Whether one is outgoing or restrained in one’s religious beliefs or carry any at all, to know Marc is to know he carries strength in his person and relationships with nary an utterance of scripture or witnessing. Marc has dedicated his life to educating our youth. He is a man, who has served his community and his family. He is a pleasure to know.

With that said, I will start an early promotion for Marc re a yearly retreat in Oregon. It is called the Christian Fly Fishing Roundup and is held at Pine Hollow Reservoir. If you want to know more check out the link below. Also, I bet Marc will be tying at the NW Flytying Rendezvous (1st. Saturday of Novermber at Mt. Hood Community College ..look for signs and wind your way through to find it…it is worth it) so you could visit with him then. I know I will be.

And, I might add that Marc is an excellent fisherman.
