‘Trees are the earth’s endless effort to speak to the listening heaven.’ Rabindranath Tagore, Fireflies, 1928
‘Located deep in the thick woods stands one lone dead tree, many a fierce storm has passed through, passing by, always letting the tree be.” Adine Cathey, An Old Forgotten Tree
“A wind had blown the rain away, and blown the sky away and all the leaves away, and the tree stands. I think, I too, have known Autumn too long.” e.e. cummings

That’s a fine perspective and a wonderful image, Switt. I like it very much. In B/W, it’s dramatic!

These old ones stand testament to the ages. They’ve sprouted, grown, thrived and survived and spread their progeny to continue the role. In death they’re still beautiful, and provide sustenance to other organisms which will eventually break them down so that the cycle can begin all over again. Love the symmetry and promise of that everlasting cycle.
