“Say, care-worn man,
Whom Duty chains within the city walls,
Amid the toiling crowd, how grateful plays
The fresh wind o’er thy sickly brow, when free
To tread the springy turf,— to hear the trees
Communing with the gales,—to catch the voice
Of waters, gushing from their rocky womb,
And singing as they wander…
Spring-hours will come again, and feelings rise
With dewy freshness o’er thy wither’d heart.”
Robert Montgomery, Beautiful Influences, A Vision of Heaven; and A Vision of Hell; 1829

Poignant, and hopeful! I will try to enjoy and rejoice in Fall, and Winter until Springs returns.
The light on the river is lovely, and your composition is very becoming. I really like the triangle you made with tree reaching to the upper right corner drawing my eye up then naturally it falls to the river and light and foliage. Well done!

It was…a river on the Oregon coast, about five miles from the ocean.

This is amazing… And seeing when it was penned also amazing. Things never really change…
