Once, everything was tidy, orderly, clean. The yard was pleasing. Not just the flowers, trees and lawn, but the structures that are hidden behind the natural, eye-catching elements: the deck, outbuildings, stairs, railings and fences. But then age took hold. Flowers were still planted for splashes of color, of life, for what was.

But gradually, the elements, the cost of making repairs, the lack of focus took hold. Now, the wear, the decline is evident. The clock ticks now as aging takes hold. Momentum seems lost. Even more daunting as the rain, wind and cold arrives. A fog bank of ‘what’s the point’ has pushed in.

Perhaps this is a time, for those of us that observe from the sidelines, to gently suggest changes and help in making those possible for those that are at a standstill and lost in the realities of aging?
