Well sort of…
“If a tree falls in the woods, and no human or animal is there…does it make a sound?” Or, now they ask does the tree even exists? Some people think much too much.
Logging Safety: “More loggers are hurt and killed during felling than any other activity!
Most who die at work are killed within 10 feet of the stump.”

Have friends who are loggers here in Arkansas. It is a dangerous job. I have watched my husband cut many trees and have them land exactly where he said they would go. Amazes me. I guess if no one is in the forest when a tree falls, it doesn’t make a sound. Ha You are right, too much thinking for my brain.

Takes skill for sure. I have never fallen a tree beyond a few inches thick.

How the hell do you get so close to a tree about to fall? o_o

The butt end shoots out in a direction not intended and can travel quite fast and take you out. Seems one would be a long distance away once it leans but probably some get too comfortable. Yet, men that do it for a living on steep hillsides, rough/dangerous footing get crushed. I think we picture a smooth forest floor like in the pics but it often is extremely rugged terrain where one doesn’t or can’t run only climb and scramble over debris and get caught.

Dangerous though.

In the northeast we call this a “Widow Maker.”

I think the novice would have no sense of how much force even a ‘small’ tree possesses once dislodged.
